Research Institute Technician Symposium (RITS 2019)

Please find below a poster advertising the first Research Institute Technician Symposium (RITS 2019) along with the Agenda for the day.

This exciting first Inter-UK Research Institute symposium will take place on the 18th of November at The Crick Institute in London and will have a focus on career development.

The idea for this symposium came about as we (the MRC) are part of a Technician Commitment subgroup consisting of Research Institutes in the same geographical area: MRC, Sanger, Francis Crick, Institute of Cancer Research, John Innes Centre and the Babraham Institute. Together, we decided to create an event to bring together staff with technical expertise from across our Research Institutes with the aim of promoting professional identity, encouraging networking and collaborations and provide a platform to discuss career development.

Staff in Science Support roles, Technicians / Technical experts from all six research institutes are invited to attend this symposium. We’ve put together a really exciting programme, including an opening address by Sir Paul Nurse, keynote talks from Dr. Cordelia Langford (Sanger) and Laura Bowater (UEA), career development talks, a networking session and technician talks (one from each Institute). Julie Roberts from Harwell has agreed to present on behalf of the MRC. She will be speaking about the sharing of MRC resources in research.
