Megan Davies obtained her PhD from the University of Cambridge and then completed a postdoc at NYU Medical School in New York. She began her career at the Medical Research Council in 1983, working initially in what is now the Research Programmes Group, where she was a programme manager in the Neurosciences group. After several roles within Head Office she moved to Cambridge in 1996 to become Head of the MRC Centre and Assistant Director (administration) at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. These roles involved providing support for all the MRC’s research units in Cambridge, including developing several new units.
At the LMB her role included some of the early planning for its new building. For nine years Megan was a Partner Governor at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, representing the research organisations on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. More recently, Megan has played a major role in the MRC’s programme of transferring some of its research units into the University, a role which is continuing despite her partial retirement.
