A 2-year position is available at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences and Imperial College London to work in the Cardiovascular Disease Mechanisms Group headed by Professor Stuart Cook. The overall aim of the group is to define new biology, identify drug targets and translating scientific tools developed in the laboratory for patient benefit. The group combines physiology, imaging, genetics and cell biology to investigate mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease with a special interest in the role of interleukin 11 (IL11). The group has a track record of excellence and innovation in cardiovascular biology with publications in top-tier journals and extensive international collaboration.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative research technician with a background in molecular and cellular biology and the study of cardiovascular biology in model systems both ex vivo and in vivo. The post holder will be involved with projects that broadly focus on cardiac function through the study of transgenic models, primary cells and cell lines. The goal will be to produce original research contributions for the core program of the group with a view to publishing data in highly-cited scientific journals through making impactful discoveries that are biologically insightful and also useful.
