Meet the team

We work on the role of steroids on human health and disease, with a focus on tissue-specific steroid activation and inactivation. Major focus is the link between androgens and metabolic disease in women and men. We use human-based in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo approaches and steroid mass spectrometry.

Our translational context is Ageing, Cardiometabolic Disease and Multimorbidity. We are specifically looking at the impact of life course and sex differences on human metabolic disease. We would like to achieve progress for conditions that more often or severely affect women, including polycystic ovary syndrome, type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

Our research benefits from several clinical cohort and intervention studies we lead on or participate in. Examples include the DAISy-PCOS cohort study with the European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumours (ENSAT) and associated EU collaborations including HT-Advance and the international EURINE-ACT study

More updates will be available soon.
