The computing facility provides IT provision and support for state-of-the art scientific equipment and provides the required technological backbone to enable cutting-edge research at the LMS.
With a focus on enabling collaboration and facilitating technology, our facility provides IT services tailored to the unique needs of research groups, facilities and staff. Our facility encompasses a wide array of technological responsibilities, including device support, network administration, HPC provision, software support, data management, and more.
The LMS computing facility provides, supports and maintains all IT provision ranging from installing software on devices to deploying complex and purpose-built networks and server infrastructure across the LMS.
As a first point of contact for any IT queries/issues, collaboration is a key function of the computing facility. We work closely with LMS research groups and facilities to provide technology solutions and provisions in order to support and evolve the LMS mission. Working closely with the Bioinformatics facility, we provision, upgrade and maintain a High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster at the LMS to provide our research groups a platform for compute and GPU architecture. LMS Computing also collaborate closely with Imperial College and the NHS Trust to deliver a secure and reliable computing infrastructure to enable specific research requirements and objectives.
The LMS computing team comprises of multiskilled IT professionals with extensive expertise across a wide range of technologies and IT infrastructure. Working together as a close-knit team, our responsibilities encompass a wide array of tasks, including designing, architecting, implementing, and maintaining robust IT infrastructure and solutions. With our diverse technology portfolio, our team members support innovation and strive to find solutions, to quite often complex problems.
