Sean was born in Vancouver, Canada and raised in London, UK. From a young age, Sean had an interest in pursuing a career as a clinician scientist. He studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. After completing the Academic Foundation Programme and an Academic Clinical Fellowship in Cardiology at King’s College London, he did a PhD in the genomics and transcriptomics of inherited heart diseases at Imperial College London under the supervision of Professor James Ware and Dr Michela Noseda.
Since completing his PhD, Sean has continued within the Chain Florey programme at the LMS as a Clinical Lecturer and has received funding from the British Heart Foundation and NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre. His research focuses on clinical translation of human genomics and functional genomics approaches in inherited heart disease.
The Chain Florey programme was set up in 2009 to offer world-class training to medical graduates, allowing them to develop essential research skills at key stages of their career. The programme has already supported many clinicians to combine their medical knowledge with a new-found expertise in scientific research.
