When is the deadline for completed applications for a PhD at the LMS?
This varies each year depending on the recruitment deadlines, which are stated on the website when applications are open.
How do I apply for a PhD position at the LMS?
Application forms are available to download directly from our website when studentships are available. The form must be completed and submitted via email by the deadline date stated at the time. Each application must also be supported by two academic references send directly from the referees named on the form and cannot come via the applicant. The references must also be received by the application deadline.

My first language is not English. What are the language requirements for the LMS PhD programme?
You will need to have passed a College-approved English test.
I am an overseas student, am I eligible for a full MRC Studentship?
There are no residency restrictions for these studentships, although there is more funding available for UK/EU studentships, which makes the international studentships highly competitive
How much financial support would I need as an overseas student to study for a PhD at the LMS?

The Tuition Fees page on the Imperial College website gives current tuition fees, including guidance on how to determine your fee classification (Home/EU/Overseas). The Faculty of Medicine fees in the Postgraduate Research Tuition Fees Schedule apply to the LMS programme.
How much is the MRC Studentship stipend?
£25,000 per annum tax free.
I am only interested in one of the PhD projects available; can I just apply for that?
You can state on the application form which project you are interested in, but it will still be view and considered by all recruiting supervisors.
Who can provide my two academic references?
Anyone who has had regular contact with you in an academic setting, such as your university tutor, or had regular contact with you in the lab such as a project supervisor.
If called for interview, will the LMS pay my travel expenses?
Yes, the LMS will reimburse travel expenses up to £100 for UK travel or £200 for EU travel. Accommodation can also be provided in addition to this upon request.
When and where will the interviews take place?
Provisional interview dates will be given on the advertisement and then confirmed if you receive an invitation to interview.
All interviews take place at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences, Hammersmith Hospital in London.
I have not heard whether I have been invited to the Recruitment Day for interview.
