About me:
Before my PhD, I completed a Bachelor's with Honours in Artificial Intelligence at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, focusing on bioinformatics and applications of AI in Medical Sciences. I divide my time between the Speck lab at the LMS and Diamond Light Source, a cutting-edge imaging facility. I work on the intersection of cryoEM, computer science, and structural biology to gain insight into DNA replication complexes. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, gaming, rollerblading, crochet, reading, and playing with my two cats.
The DNA replication group at the LMS was formed in 2006. The team, led by Christian Speck, researches fundamental principles in DNA replication, and how this process contributes to chromatin organisation, genome architecture and transcriptional regulation. We use this knowledge to understand the molecular basis of disease and to develop novel cancer therapies.
