Research focus:

At LMS, our primary research areas encompass the development of mass spectrometry methods and their translational role to investigate vitamin D metabolism and its role in health and disease. In particular, we are are aiming to more accurately define deficient and sufficient vitamin D status and the impact of supplementation on health outcomes.

Joined LMS:

2023

About me:

I joined the LMS because it is a world leading multidisciplinary centre and the ideal environment for my research interests. The state-of-the-art mass spectrometry laboratory enables cutting edge analytical methods to be developed in order to discover new metabolism pathways in endocrinology.

My awards and achievements:

EU Marie Curie Global Fellowship
Royal Society of Chemistry Chartered Chemist
Society for Endocrinology Leadership & Development Award
Griffith Hack Innovation Award

Impact of my work:

Our work plays a crucial role in advancing our understanding of vitamin D metabolism and physiology and its role in health. Our research outcomes will be used to guide optimum vitamin D levels and guide supplementation strategies for improved health outcomes.

My Research

Vitamin D bioanalysis

The Vitamin D bioanalysis group at the LMS was formed in 2023. The team lead by Carl Jenkinson aims to understand the role of vitamin D metabolism and function on human physiology and health using mass spectrometry applications.
