I'd been working in science engagement, first via broadcast TV and then through founding a science festival, SMASHfestUK. The effectiveness of inclusive and immersive public engagement activities was the subject of my academic research. The role at the LMS came up which allowed me to combine my passion for engagement with an honorary academic role to continue my work, in a place where some of the best science in the world is being done - the best of all worlds!
