About me:
Nick joined the Metzis Lab as a PhD student in October 2024. He obtained a BA in Biological Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, where he undertook his final year project in the Ferguson-Smith Lab, studying how cis-regulatory elements contribute to imprinted gene expression. In 2024, Nick completed an MPhil in Genetics at the University of Cambridge in the Steventon Group, investigating the role of Cdx4 in zebrafish segmentation.
Now, Nick is researching how Cdx factors influence chromatin accessibility and regulate cell identity during spinal cord development.
Our research aims to understand the molecular basis of cell identity, and the transcriptional control mechanisms that determine diversity in cell fate choice during embryonic development.
