About me:
Luc Alban received his undergraduate degree in Science, Technology & Health and Masters degree in Molecular Biology, specializing in Molecular Microbiology and Pathogenesis from the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France. He then pursued a PhD in the Milias-Argeitis lab at the University of Groningen, Netherlands where his work focused on the development of single-cell readouts for studying the activities of the TORC1 growth regulatory pathway throughout the cell cycle. He then joined the MRC LMS as a postdoctoral researcher in the Barr lab in 2023. His research explores how protein kinases regulate the entry and progression in the cell cycle, and the implications for the associated biological processes (e.g. DNA replication). By understanding this role in controlling cell proliferation, particularly in cancer cells dependent on specific regulatory checkpoints, we aim to support the development of targeted cancer therapies.
We aim to understand the molecular mechanisms that control how cells enter and exit the cell cycle, combining microscopy with mathematical modelling to investigate these processes in healthy and cancerous cells.
