About me:
Maya is a PhD student in the signalling group at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences, supervised by Professor Dominic Withers, Professor Jesus Gill, and Professor Petter Brodin. Her research focuses on the biological mechanisms underlying ageing and age-related inflammation.
Before joining the LMS, Maya completed an MSci in Physics with Theoretical Physics at Imperial College, London, followed by several years working in finance. She subsequently returned to science, completing an MSc in Microbiome in Health and Disease at King's College London.
We study the mechanisms that regulate energy homeostasis including the underlying cell signalling processes and neuronal circuits in the central nervous system with the aim of understanding how such processes are involved in the pathogenesis of metabolic and age-related disease.
