Emerging Innovators Fellowship
The Emerging Innovators Fellowship is a new 3-year fully-funded postdoctoral fellowship for scientists from Black Heritage Backgrounds.
About the Fellowship
This is a three-year training and development position for postdoctoral scientists of Black Heritage who have just completed their doctoral studies (as of March 2025), or who are seeking a second postdoctoral position.
Applicants must also be either:
·UK domiciled researchers who wish to conduct their research in the UK.
OR
·Non-UK domiciled researchers who have studied in the UK for their undergraduate degree and/or PhD.
The Fellowship is funded by the MRC’s Black in Biomedical Research project, an overarching programme of work established to tackle the sustained under-representation of researchers from Black Heritage backgrounds across the sector. Click here to learn more about their work.

Read the additional information provided and download the submission pack to complete the Scientific Personal Statement application and screening document. Consider reaching out to any group heads you are interested in working with to understand how your research could fit into their scientific group.

Complete your application and submit on our recruitment platform. In the section for document uploads, attach your:
– Scientific Cover Letter
– Scientific CV
– Screening document

A panel will assess eligible applications and shortlist candidates for an informal pre-interview discussion with their chosen group head. Each group head will then select one candidate to proceed to the project proposal and interview stage.

Shortlisted candidates will develop a research proposal with their chosen group head. This will detail the research you would like to conduct at the LMS, and will form the basis of the scientific presentation you will give at interview. More information about this stage will be provided to shortlisted candidates.

The interview will take place at the LMS building in West London, where candidates will be able to meet key contacts at the institute and view our state-of-the-art laboratories. An online interview option will be provided for candidates unable to travel to the LMS.

Successful candidates will be offered the role and their start date will be determined.
