About the role
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Cardiovascular Genomics Precision Medicine Group (Prof. James Ware), working specifically to support Dr Sean Zheng’s research at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS). Dr Zheng and Professor Ware’s research focuses on exploring the genetic mechanisms of inherited cardiac disease and understanding how genetic variation influences cardiac function.
You’ll work alongside leading scientists in a supportive and innovative environment, gaining hands-on experience with advanced genomic technologies and contributing to discoveries that could transform patient care.
What you would be doing
You will play an essential role in supporting Dr Zheng with day-to-day laboratory work. Your responsibilities will include assisting with managing the collection and storage of human tissue samples in the lab and the extraction of DNA and RNA, and preparation of cDNA libraries for sequencing. You will support the day-to-day activities in the lab, including ordering, protocol development, documentation, and governance. The post holder will also support the group’s research delivery team, based at Royal Brompton Campus in Chelsea, assisting with sample processing, DNA extraction and next generation sequencing library generation.
