LMS Undergraduate Summer Programme
Our LMS Undergraduate Summer Programme is a fantastic, fully-funded opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands on laboratory experience to support their scientific journeys.
About the LMS Summer School
We will host up to 6 students from Monday 07 July – Friday 29 August 2025 who will each complete an individual project to gain valuable lab experience.
Only one application form is required per student and they will be considered by all recruiting supervisors. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to remotely interview with a specific supervisor during the week commencing 19 May. Only one student per research group will be invited to join the programme.
Eligibility: Students must have completed the first year and not yet commenced the final year of their undergraduate degree (please note that integrated master’s students should not have commenced their second to final year) and be available for the full duration of the programme.
Due to the timeline of the recruitment process we are only able to host students who will not need to apply for a visa. This includes, but is not exclusive to UK Home Students, those in the UK on existing visas that do not restrict their ability to work outside of term time, students with settled status, or the right-to-work in the UK. Evidence of this will be required before offers can be made.
Compensation: This funded summer programme includes a stipend of £486 a week (tax free) paid at the end of the eight week programme. Accommodation is not included.

This year, the groups hosting undergraduate summer students are:
Steroids and metabolism (Weibke Arlt)
Behavioural phenomics (Andre Brown)
Lymphocyte development (Matthias Merkenschlager)
Computational cardiac imaging (Declan O’Regan)
Chromatin and development (Michelle Percharde)
Single molecule imaging (David Rueda)
