Dr Nick Myantgroup photo mrc lipid metab unit FRCP died peacefully in hospital on 17 January 2015, aged 97. He was Director of the MRC Lipid Metabolism Unit at Hammersmith Hospital from 1969 until his retirement in 1983, but he remained active in research with the Lipoprotein Group at the CSC for many more years. He is widely regarded as the founding father of lipid research in the UK and trained many of those who were active in this field during the past 40 years. His scrupulously scientific approach to research, and his honesty, integrity and kindness earned him the respect and affection of all who worked with him during his long and productive career at the Hammersmith.
