Congratulations! LMS Celebrates Graduation of PhD Students at Royal Albert Hall Ceremony

The MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) and Imperial College London recently joined hands to commemorate the graduation of a group of exceptional students at a special ceremony held at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. 

After dedicating years to their research projects, numerous outstanding students were presented with their doctoral degrees during the graduation ceremony in May 2023.

The graduates were joined by Group Heads Helena Cochemé, Santiago Vernia, Enrique Martinez-Perez, Andre Brown, and Tobias Warnecke, as well as master’s graduate Do Hyeon and his mentor Andrew Dimond.

The occasion served as a testament to the remarkable achievements of these graduates and their profound impact on the field of medical research and the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Beatriz Fernandez Ruiz , one of the PhD graduates who attended the ceremony, conveyed her joy and appreciation, stating, ‘What a joy to have attended yesterday’s graduation ceremony with our LMS staff and students, with whom I shared this very special journey. Congratulations, Doctors! This chapter is closed now.’

Dr Enrique (Fadri) Martinez-Perez, Director of Postgraduate Studies, congratulated all the LMS PhD graduates, emphasising the significance of witnessing the hard-working PhD students at the ceremony in the illustrious Royal Albert Hall. He remarked, ‘Many congratulations to all the LMS graduates. It was great to see many of our PhD students attending the graduation ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall. What a fantastic way to celebrate your achievements surrounded by your peers and family.’

Professor Johnathan Weber, the esteemed Dean of the Imperial College Faculty of Medicine, expressed his enthusiasm for the annual postgraduate graduation, remarking, ‘Every year, our postgraduate graduation is a highlight for me. This year marks my final ceremony as Dean and will leave a particularly lasting memory for me. It also gives me great pleasure that you represent our 25th graduating cohort of postgraduate students from our Faculty of Medicine.’

The partnership between the MRC LMS and Imperial College London has proven to be instrumental in nurturing and supporting the academic growth of our students. Their successful graduation marks an important milestone in their scholarly journey and contributes to the ongoing advancement of medical science.

The MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences and Imperial College London extend their heartfelt congratulations to the accomplished PhD graduates, acknowledging their dedication, hard work, and the lasting impact they will have on the future of medical research.
