About me:
I am an Academic Clinical Fellow in Diabetes and Endocrinology, currently out of programme as a Chain Florey Clinical Research Training Fellow. My research focuses on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and its role in increasing the risk of metabolic dysfunction. Additionally, I lead the DAISy-PCOS study, a large multicentre international cohort study recruiting women with PCOS. My research involves using human in vivo methods to study the impact of various interventions on managing PCOS. My research is supported by UKRI and the Imperial NIHR Biomedical Research Centre.
The Arlt lab, which focusses on the role of steroid metabolism and action in human disease, moved to the LMS in 2023. Our work explores tissue-specific regulation of steroid action with a focus on the role of androgens in metabolic dysfunction. We are very interested in mechanisms that explain sex differences in the impact of androgens on metabolism.
