We are looking to appoint a highly motivated postdoctoral Research Associate in Functional Genomics to join our newly established Renal Genomics research group. Funded by the Medical Research Council and Kidney Research UK, this exciting post will investigate how gene-regulatory networks drive kidney and urinary tract development, and how disruption of these mechanisms lead to congenital anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract (CAKUT) – the commonest cause of kidney failure in children.
You will establish and run iPSC-derived kidney and ureteric bud organoid models, use CRISPR interference to perturb candidate cis-regulatory elements, and profile the consequences using single-nucleus multiomics, CUT&RUN and low-input chromosome conformation capture techniques. You will be based at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences; a discovery research institute located at Imperial College London (Hammersmith Campus) and will have the opportunity to undertake advanced training in stem cells and kidney organoid models. You will take the initiative in driving your project forward, working collaboratively with bioinformaticians and clinicians to generate and experimentally test mechanistic hypotheses. You will submit publications to high-quality peer-reviewed journals, present your work at national and international conferences, and will be encouraged to develop independent research ideas within the lab’s core focus.
This is a full time, fixed term role for 3 years. The expected start date is around 1st December 2026, start date is flexible.

Athena SWAN
In 2017, the Institute received an Athena SWAN Silver Award to recognize its commitment to advancing women’s careers in science and research.
At the LMS there are three working groups which deliver on the action plan developed for the silver application.
Equality, diversity and wellbeing
The MRC LMS is committed to creating equality of opportunity to all members of the organisation, regardless of their background, and promoting diversity and inclusivity. We observe the Medical Research Council’s Equality and Diversity Vision, which sets out the MRC’s commitment to fulfill its obligations as a public body under the Equality Act 2010.
Technician’s Commitment
The LMS is a signatory to the Technician Commitment, a sector-wide initiative led by the Science Council and the Gatsby Foundation which aims to address the particular career challenges faced by technical and scientific support staff.
We provide opportunities to work alongside some of the top medical researchers on the planet, from our state-of-the-art research facilities.
