The Highly Cited Researcher list identifies and celebrates people who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their field. Each researcher on the list has authored multiple papers which rank in the top 1% by citations in both their field and the journal in which it was published in the last 11 years. Only 1 in 1000 researchers make the list.
The three researchers from the LMS named on the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers of 2025 list are Wiebke Arlt, Petter Brodin and Boris Lenhard.
Professor Wiebke Arlt: Wiebke is the Director of the LMS and Professor of Transdisciplinary Medicine and Head of the Institute of Clinical Sciences at Imperial College London. At the LMS, she leads the Steroids and Metabolism group, which focuses on the role of steroids in health and disease, with a focus on sex differences and metabolic dysfunction.

Professor Petter Brodin: Petter is Head of the Systems Immunology group at the LMS and Garfield Weston Chair and Professor of Paediatric Immunology at Imperial College London and at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. His research centres on understanding factors that shape human immune system variation in health and disease, focussing on changes that occur during the life course and sex differences.

Professor Boris Lenhard: Boris is Head of the Computational Regulatory Genomics group at the LMS and Professor of Computational Biology at Imperial College London. His team develops computational methods for studying gene regulation and uses these tools to understand how this process affects human development and disease.

“The Highly Cited Researchers list recognises researchers whose work has a significant and far-reaching impact. I am proud that several LMS Investigators have been recognised. It demonstrates success in our mission as core-funded national research institutes of the Medical Research Council: advancing knowledge to improve lives through the discovery of mechanisms that underlie human disease and considering the impact of ageing, sex and the environment.”
Wiebke Arlt, Director of the LMS
