LMS 1848 MRC Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Behavioural Phenomics

MRC Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Genetically encoded neuroactive compounds

£32,302 – £35,143 plus London allowances (£3,727 & £1,402) per annum

(3 Year fixed term)

London, UK

We have developed new technology for high-throughput behavioural screening and quantitative phenotyping that we are now using to discover neuroactive compounds in natural products and to repurpose existing drugs to treat Mendelian diseases. This position would give you access to unique screening technology and a group of interdisciplinary colleagues who work together on behaviour assays, instrument development, software, and data analysis.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative scientist with a PhD and an interest in behavior, animal-microbe interactions, synthetic biology, and/or neuropharmacology. Other members of the team have backgrounds in genetics, physics, neuroscience, and engineering. Your particular path is less important than your desire to learn and work on interesting problems.

The Behavioural Phenomics lab is a friendly interdisciplinary team headed by Dr André Brown at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences based on the Hammersmith Campus of Imperial College London. For more information, see the group’s website at https://tierpsy.com/.

The post is an MRC Postdoctoral Scientist position providing training and development supporting post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career paths helping establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field. We offer a highly attractive benefits package including competitive salary, excellent holiday entitlement and final salary pension scheme.

Final appointment will be subject to pre-employment screening.

Additional allowances comprise a £1,000 lump sum Settlement Allowance plus a yearly Training Allowance of £850 in the first year, paid in monthly instalments. The Training Allowance increases to £1,300 in year two, and £1,800 in the third year.

This role qualifies for endorsement by UKRI for a UK Global Talent Visa, for which the successful applicant is likely to be eligible to apply.
