LMS 2396 Senior Investigator Scientist - Functional Gene Control Group

Senior Investigator Scientist

Medical Research Council (MRC) – Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS)

Salary: £48,802 – £52, 172 plus London Allowances (£3,913 & £1,472) per annum

4 years

Full Time (36 hours per week)

Based in the Functional Gene Control Group (Group Head: Dr Mikhail Spivakov), the Senior Investigator Scientist will lead scientific research in the area of gene regulation, focusing on the logic of gene control by enhancers and the principles of enhancer-promoter communication.

The Group’s experimental models include human primary blood cells, cancer cell lines and human stem cells, interrogated using a combination of advanced experimental and computational techniques for chromatin and chromosomal interaction profiling, single-cell multiomics and CRISPR perturbations.

This is an exciting position that would particularly suit a highly experienced and motivated scientist who would enjoy dividing their time between their own project and team work, including training, co-supervising and helping junior lab members, sharing expertise and supporting collaborations.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant biomedical discipline, have a strong track record in gene regulation evidenced by publications and solid experience in establishing and troubleshooting wet-lab epigenomic techniques, including single-cell and CRISPR-based methods.

LMS offers a wide range of benefits including 30 days annual leave allowance, a defined benefit pension scheme, family friendly policies, access to EdenRed discounts for high street and online shopping, wellbeing support, and access to an employee assistance programme scheme.

As a Disability Confident employer, LMS guarantees to interview candidates who disclose they have a disability and who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy. If there are any reasonable adjustments that would help aid the application process, please contact our Recruitment Team and can discuss further.
