The LMS Student Committee

The LMS student committee is a group of PhD students that organises events for the student community on Imperial’s Hammersmith Campus. We also arrange events closely alongside the LMS Postdoc Community.

Within the LMS we have a hugely diverse group of students and our aim is to bring them together and build a strong student community. We also aim to provide an informal support network during your PhD and, most importantly, we hope to make it more fun! In order to do this we organise our own events here on the Hammersmith Campus while also integrating with any suitable events at South Kensington. We also act as a representative body of students who can communicate ideas and problems with the LMS staff, so if you have any issues, comments or feedback you wish to make, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

We organise a wide range of events from academic ones, such as journal clubs, career talks, and lectures to non-science events like dinners and pub trips. We recently helped organise institute-wide table tennis and rounders tournaments. We try to organise a broad choice of events to make sure there is something for everyone to enjoy on site.

What’s in it for the students?

The LMS Student Committee is a way of uniting the students who are often located in different buildings across the institute. We aim to provide social events, sports and talks targeted at postgraduate students. We also want to centralise and distribute information about any existing events on campus so more of you can have access to them.
