Food

There are two cafés within the CSC, which are regularly used for socialising and informal meetings. Additional cafes, canteens and a Bar are available for use around the Hammersmith Hospital Site.

The 6th floor café on top of the Clinical Research Building has the best views in the building and is a favourite spot for progress meetings and catch ups. For relaxing after work or waiting for long incubations there is a Plasma TV and sofa area for communal use.

The larger Ex Libris café, on the 1st floor of the Commonwealth Building, offers a wider range of hot and cold food and provides a useful meeting point for mixing with students and staff from other buildings on campus.

Sports

With the Wormwood Scrubs nature reserve right on our doorstep, and Imperial College facilities at students’ disposal, there is plenty of opportunity to stay fit at the CSC:

Football: Weekly games take place on the Hammersmith campus.

Yoga: A professional yoga teacher comes to campus every Tuesday evening to teach a relaxation yoga course to students and staff around Hammersmith campus after work. There is a small fee for the classes.

Gym: Located on-site in the Commonwealth Building, the Impetus Gym is free to students and offers a small selection of cardiovascular and resistance equipment. Impetus at Hammersmith is open seven days a week from 07.30 – 21.30.

Students also have free access to the Ethos gym at South Kensington Campus, which has a swimming pool, rock wall, squash courts, fitness classes and much more.

Swimming Pool: Many students make use of the nearby Phoenix Fitness Centre and Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool. The pool is a 10 minute walk from the CSC.
