Fabrics of Life Workshops

Marrying scientific discovery to design

Past workshops have been hosted at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design (London) and ENSAD (Paris), organised by the Epigenome Network of ExcellenceMRC Clinical Sciences Centre and the Curie Institute. Leading scientists shared their research with MA art and design students.

The aim was to disseminate the latest in scientific research to the arts communities. Senior scientists engaged with art and design students and professionals in a workshop format giving students the chance to brainstorm ways of translating scientific principles into design models. Previous workshops have explored themes of Epigenetics (2007), Model Organisms (2008), Evolution (2009) and Synthetic & Systems Biology (2010).

In 2014, we explored Big Data – Big Challenges.
